In the Public Sector
In the public sector, we represent teachers, police officers, nurses, bus drivers, and other public employees and organizations. Our representation involves all facets of labor law, including negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, employment contract negotiations, arbitration, mediation, and advocacy before administrative agencies such as the State Employment Relations Board (SERB) and the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS), as well as representation in state and federal court.

Our public sector labor law practice is extremely broad and includes representational issues, protection against unfair labor practices, school law, work stoppages and strikes, and defense of duty of fair representation (DFR) claims.

We also represent individuals in matters before the State Personnel Board of Review (SPBR), the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) and for civil service related issues.

In the Private Sector
As we do for our public sector clients, we provide a wide range of labor and work related services for our private sector labor union and employee association clients. We represent clients before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and state and federal courts regarding all matters involving representation, unfair labor practices (ULP), work stoppages and strikes, collective bargaining, mediation, arbitration and defense of duty of fair representation (DFR) claims. We also provide assistance and representation for matters involving the Labor Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (LMRDA) and the Labor Management Relations Act (LMRA).

Taft Hartley Trust Funds
We provide representation for Taft Hartley trust funds that provide employee benefits including pension benefits, health care, and fringe benefits. We help clients organize their trust and prepare plan documentation, and also assist our trust clients in recovering delinquent contributions and other matters involving employers.

Fair Labor Standards Act
Federal and State law requires that many employees be compensated for all time worked, earn a minimum hourly wage, and be paid an overtime rate for all hours over forty (40) worked in a week. We provide assistance to employees individually and as groups to recover wages unlawfully withheld from employees in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
